Ms Marvel: Creator reflects on the appeals of the Marvel series to fans

Ms. Marvel is gaining new fans with the arrival of more and more episodes. The teenage superheroine has proven to be most charming, something that does not come for free. Multiple ideas came into play to conceive the Marveland now one of the creators of the series revealed the keys that make Kamala Khan so adorable.

Ms. Marvel stars Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and voracious fan-fiction writer, Kamala is a fan of superheroes and has an enormous imagination for them, especially when it comes to Captain Marvel.

However, Kamala feels invisible both at home and at school, until she gains superpowers like the heroes she has always admired. Does life improve with superpowers? Is the question proposed by the production.

Ms Marvel: Why is the series gaining more and more fans?

In an interview given to RedCarpet from RedGol, one of the creators of Kamala Khan in the comics and also a producer of the Marvel series, Sana Amanat, commented that “the best thing about bringing Kamala to life is seeing that evolution. See how So many collaborators bring Kamala’s story to life, and in unexpected ways. We have great directors and writers, as well as people across departments who bring their different perspectives.”

“I like the collaboration part and to be a part of that, to be able to watch my daughter grow up, while also making friends with other people is pretty amazing.”

“So it’s been quite satisfying and enlightening to see comics come to life in such bold and new ways. That’s something that makes me very happy,” he said.

On the other hand, Amanat admits her own influence on the character both when she was created for the cartoons and when she jumped to the small screen, stating that “I certainly identify with her. Much of her stories are inspired by my experiences being a Colored Girl in Jersey”.

“I’m a huge fan of Marvel, I grew up in a house where comics and cartoons and Spider-Man and X-Men animations existed, so there are a lot of similarities for me,” she admits.

But then there’s also ” figuring out how to navigate the different expectations you have of yourself, of who you are or who you want to become. Although Kamala is probably smarter than me… I feel like that’s what we tell our kids. ..but he’s smarter than me, he has this kind of innate understanding, and it’s a delight to see him accomplish things he sets his mind to. ”

Until now, the big question remains: Why were Kamala’s powers altered? And Sana Amanat has a simple and direct answer: “We adapted his powers so that it was an energy more connected to his heart, as well as being related to his past and his heritage, so it is more like a transfer of powers than anything else and therefore, Of course, we’ll be linking them to other stories in the MCU”.

“So it made more sense for us to have people engage with a character that doesn’t come straight off the page, but at the same time is true to having enlarged fists, hands, and legs, playing on iconic comic book moments and sometimes even unexpected ways,” he stressed.

That’s why, when watching the series, “people are going to find a familiar and friendly circle around Kamala, in the middle of a wonderful story on her way to adulthood, which is shaping up to be fresh and unique at the same time. , something that can absolutely coexist in the Marvel Universe”

“What people will be able to see is that this feels familiar, but it’s still different. In addition to being enchanted with the cast and how the world looks, so I hope they want more of that,” Amanat concluded.

Ms. Marvel is premiering new episodes of its first season every Wednesday on Disney+.
