Post-acne scars and spots: How to remove them?

The scars and spots left by acne are one of the most frequent reasons for consultation today, according to the latest study by “Advances in Dermatology” from the Laser Medical Institute of Madrid. This common dermatological condition produces different types of lesions, the which vary according to the patient. To eliminate them, the most advisable thing is to go to a specialized medical center, where they will analyze the morphology of the scars and spots and determine what type of treatment is the most appropriate, as well as the number of sessions that are necessary in each case.

Acne is one of the most common skin problems in people, a chronic skin disease that affects both men and women between the ages of 12 and 20. The sun, hormonal changes or stress, however, can cause acne to reappear in adult life. And, although there are many factors that can cause acne to proliferate, all cases have something in common: the presence of the bacteria called Propinebacterium Acnes , which infects the hair follicles and triggers an inflammatory outbreak.

And if fighting acne weren’t enough ordeal, many of us also have to fight the marks it leaves on our skin. It almost seems like a double punishment: first we suffered those unsightly pimples and now the scars and marks left by these are a constant reminder of an aesthetic problem that we thought was solved. How to solve it? Here are some of the post-acne treatments that can help you settle the issue once and for all.

Remove Acne Scars: What’s the First Step?

The first thing to find out is the type of scars that acne has left on your skin. “First of all you have to go to a clinic to diagnose the problem and, from there, determine the appropriate treatment and number of sessions needed”, we have professionals Massana Clinic Valladolid , one an opinion also shared by the Urban Chic Estetic center It should be noted that acne scars are of different types, so knowing what we are facing could help us fight it better.

The most frequent injuries are

  • Pit-Shaped Post Acne Scars: We are talking about deep pits that are narrow on the surface.
  • Square post acne scars : they usually appear on the temples and cheeks and have deep edges and angles
  • Rolled Post-Acne Scars – Look like waves and have shallow edges that can deepen over time.
  • Hypertrophic scars : they are thick and capable of lifting the skin. They are produced by excess collagen that has been produced to repair the original scar.

Post-acne treatments: erase scars, blemishes and marks

Fractional laser:

“The best thing to do when treating acne spots or marks left on the face is to use treatments that stimulate skin regeneration”, says Dr. Mª José Isarría Marcos, from the Laser Dermatological Institute of Malaga. This specialist advocates the use of non-ablative fractionated laser, with which columns of heat are transmitted to the skin deep enough to stimulate the regeneration of collagen and new tissue. The results are appreciated from the first session and the marks they fade little by little, making the skin look more uniform, with a tighter pore and fewer imperfections. “The results are progressive and are maintained over time.”

Chemical Peeling and IPL Laser:

“It is also highly recommended a medical chemical peel to clean impurities, combined with IPL laser sessions to close the pores”, they affirm from the Irya Clinic of Zaragoza. This treatment makes a chemical agent eliminate the damaged layers of the epidermis, a A technique that improves the facial appearance by renewing the different layers of the skin, improves the quality of the dermis, blurs spots and removes impurities.

Hyaluronic Acid Injections:

At the FCEstetica center in Madrid they are committed to tissue regeneration to close pores and produce a replacement of the epidermal cell mass, as well as a renewal of collagen. “This is effectively achieved with the application of cutaneous micro needles to induce the penetration of Hyaluronic Acid or Platelet Rich Plasma, both proven methods”, explains Dr. Federico Cardona.

Platelet Rich Plasma:

“Platelet Rich Plasma is also very suitable for filling scars, as it is usually used as a topical therapy after chemical peels or after laser, as a biostimulator of skin regeneration”, according to an article by Dr. Jordi Rodríguez Flores.
