China intends to conduct random spot checks at hospitals to track COVID

According to new National Health Commission measures, provincial governments will be tasked with daily random supervision and inspections covering a wide range of areas, including vaccination management at medical and health institutions, as well as checking the receipt and storage of new coronavirus vaccines.

Chinese officials plan random and spot checks at medical facilities in the country to track incomplete and under-reported COVID-19 data, according to the country’s health authority, amid a broader request for greater transparency from worldwide authorities.

 

 

For months, countries and health experts have pressed the country to release and be more cooperative with COVID data, particularly official information on severe hospitalizations and deaths.

World Health Organization advisers recently requested China to reveal all information relevant to the origin of the COVID outbreak.

 

 

According to new National Health Commission measures, provincial governments will be tasked with daily random supervision and inspections covering a wide range of areas, including vaccination management at medical and health institutions, as well as checking the receipt and storage of new coronavirus vaccines.

Furthermore, governments have been encouraged to check if virus infection reports have been disguised, delayed, or misreported, as well as to improve medical waste management and biosecurity control in pathogenic microbiology laboratories.

 

 

According to the health authority, local governments should actively seek financial support to cover the costs of random screenings.
