Marc Kalman, a 33-year-old art director, is Bella Hadid’s boyfriend. The duo have been dating for almost a year, but according to a source, they have kept much of their relationship under wraps since meeting during the pandemic.

Kalman has collaborated with a number of creative projects, including the logo for Travis Scott and the album art for Milk Studio’s Made Fashion Week. Despite dating such a well-known superstar as Hadid, Kalman chooses to keep his private life, well, private, and maintains a similarly hidden Instagram.

E! reported in 2015 that Hadid and The Weeknd were dating after they were seen “hanging out in Coachella and flirting a lot.” The source also told the publication that, while the couple had met earlier, the event was “where they really clicked.”

In September of that year, the suspected pair cemented their connection by exiting New York Fashion Week holding hands. However, by December of the same year, the couple was said to be on a break, with a source telling E! : “Their schedules became increasingly hectic, putting a strain on their relationship. They are still in one other’s lives, just not in the same way.”

By February 2016, the pair had resurfaced and made their red carpet premiere at The Grammys, where The Weeknd took home two prizes of his own. Then, in November, People magazine announced that they were officially out. “Their schedules have been too difficult to arrange, and he is focusing on finishing and promoting his album,” a source told the site.

 

The Weeknd performed on the same Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show stage where Hadid was modelling at the end of the month, and that awkward moment did actually occur. When E! News approached Hadid about the scenario, she told them: “This is his second year performing, and I think he’s going to kill it. There is no uneasiness. He is my best friend, and I am pleased since I will be walking during his performance.”

The Weeknd was pictured with Selena Gomez in January 2017, and Hadid unfollowed the Lose You To Love Me singer on Instagram. After 10 months of dating, The Weeknd and Gomez called it quits, and two weeks later, The Weeknd was photographed leaving Hadid’s apartment.

Us Weekly reported in 2018 that Hadid and Gomez were back together and kissing at Coachella. The Weeknd played a concert at the event, featuring an emotional rendition of Call Out My Name, which many mistook for a song about Selena Gomez.

One year later, in August 2019, E! claimed that The Weeknd and Hadid had ended their relationship once more. According to a source who spoke to the publication: “They are both physically and mentally in different places right now. Bella is preparing for her fashion week appearances, while Abel is focusing on his songs and preparing for his acting debut.”

According to a source, the pair “haven’t broken up, but are working through things like normal couples do,” according to Entertainment Tonight. Aside from an alleged run-in at a club, the couple was not seen together around that time.

E! News stated in October 2019 that Hadid and The Weeknd reconnected on her 23rd birthday. However, by 2020, despite a source telling Us Weekly that Hadid and The Weeknd were “in touch,” they appeared to have parted ways for good.

Hadid then began dating Kalman in 2021, while a source informed Page Six that they actually started dating at the onset of the pandemic.
