The ‘Aquaman’ actress gave her first post-trial interview on NBC’s ‘Today’ Show.

Amber Heard said she stands behind the testimony she gave during her ex-husband Johnny Depp’s libel trial, saying she has always “told the truth.”

“That was all I said and I said it to power. And I paid the price, ” Heard said in her first post-verdict interview, two weeks after the jury awarded Depp more than $10 million and claimed Heard lied when she said Depp abused her.

Depp sued Heard for defamation in Virginia over a December 2018 op-ed she published in The Washington Post in which she described herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse.” Depp’s lawyers said the actor was defamed by the article even though he is never mentioned by name.

Although the jury’s verdict established a multimillion-dollar compensation to Depp, Heard also received 2 million dollars for statements by one of Depp’s lawyers that they also considered defamatory.

“ Until I die I will stand behind every word of my testimony,” Heard told NBC’s Today show co-host, Savannah Guthrie, in an interview that will air Tuesday and Wednesday. “I made many mistakes, but I have always told the truth,” said the actress.

Depp, who has yet to do a formal interview about the case, has said the verdict “gave me my life back. “

Commenting on Depp’s legal team, Heard said, “his lawyer did a better job of distracting the jury from the real issues.”

The verdicts brought to an end a trial that was broadcast live for six weeks on various YouTube and social media channels.

On TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter, the vast majority of comments were critical of Heard. She called the social media craze that the case sparked “unfair.”

” This is the most humiliating and horrible thing I’ve ever been through,” Heard said in Tuesday’s interview excerpt.

Likewise, the actress commented that due to the media phenomenon the jury’s vision was partial.

“I think the vast majority of this trial took place on social media. I think this trial is an example of how it got crazy. And the jury is not immune to that,” said the Aquaman actress.

However, Heard pointed out that the impact of said transmission was of such an out-of-control magnitude that it was almost impossible for any jury to stand by.

“How could they not? I think that even with the best-intentioned jury, it would have been impossible to avoid this, ”he commented to his interviewer.

Among the topics that Amber mentioned on the show, she highlighted the hate campaign that Depp’s fans waged against him during the trial, which intensified as the weeks progressed.

“Every day I went through three, four, sometimes six city blocks, full of people with signs that said, ‘Burn the witch,’ ‘Death to Amber.’ After three and a half weeks, I took the stand and saw a courtroom full of Jack Sparrow fans who were screaming, full of energy,” he noted.

The Depp-Heard marriage

Heard also described in the interview how “toxic” her marriage with Depp had been and mentioned that the violence she had exerted in her relationship with the actor seemed unrecognizable to her.

“I did do and say horrible things that I regret throughout our relationship. I behaved horribly in ways almost unrecognizable to myself. I have a lot of regrets,” she said.
