A mistake made by Stranger Things, which Netflix will correct in the upcoming second season

After four seasons in which everything has happened, it seemed inevitable that Stranger Things would fall into some continuity error or failure, however insignificant it might be. Fans of the Netflix series are becoming more attentive and this time they have detected a resounding error that not even the creators of the series, the Duffer brothers, had realized. And so they have been left with no choice but to “go back in time” and fix it.

The error in question might seem silly, but in a series that cares so much about its characters, it is inexcusable to mistake one of their birthdays. And not just any character, but also one of the most mistreated and unfortunate in the series, Will Byers. And is that in one of the chapters of this fourth season it could be seen on a calendar that it was March 22.

Stranger Things innocence

So far nothing strange, if it weren’t for the fact that March 22 is Will’s birthday, or at least that’s what Joyce (Winona Ryder) said in an episode of the second season. It seems complicated that a mother like Joyce was wrong on the date of her son’s birthday, or worse, that she forgot about it. Hence, the Duffer brothers had to put their hands on to correct the error and not leave Joyce (and the rest of the characters in the series) as a bunch of heartless people capable of forgetting Will’s birthday.

” It’s too sad! And it doesn’t make any narrative sense. But we were talking about it yesterday, and I think we’re going to make a George Lucas out of it,” the showrunners of the series confessed in an interview. What the Duffers mean by making a George Lucas is nothing more than imitating the custom of the creator of Star Wars of subsequently altering already filmed material, that is, digitally retouching something to correct or improve it. In this case, the solution seems to be retouching not the calendar that is seen in this current season, but Winona Ryder’s phrase in the second.

According to Matt Duffer, in the original episode, they can change the audio so that Will’s birthday was May 22 “because the word ‘May’ can fit in Winona’s mouth .” He also added that it would not be the first time they changed something after releasing it. “We also have things about George Lucas that people don’t know about,” leaving open to theory just how many elements the Duffers have been able to try to improve over the years. It will be necessary to see if from this July 1 with the closing of the fourth season the same thing does not happen to them again.
