The second season of Narcos has already started its production in Mexico City and is expected to be released in 2019.
Good news for fans of ‘Narcos’. Netflix just announced that Diego Luna (‘Rogue One’, ‘And your mom too’) and Scoot McNairy (‘True Detective’, ‘Destroyer’) will star in the second season of ‘Narcos: Mexico’.
The production of the new season of ‘Narcos Mexico’ began in Mexico City recently and will be produced for Netflix by Gaumont Television.
Eric Newman returns as executive producer with José Padilha, Doug Miro, Andrés Baiz and Carlo Bernard.
Diego Luna was recently nominated for the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards as’ Best Actor in a Drama Series’ for his performance in ‘Narcos: Mexico’. In addition, the series also obtained a nomination to the WGA (Writers Guild of America West) in the category ‘Episodic Drama’ (‘Camelot’ written by Eric Newman and Clayton Trussell)
About ‘Narcos: Mexico’ season 1
The series explores the origins of the modern drug war returning to its roots, beginning when the Mexican world of trafficking was a disorganized and lost confederation of independent growers and traffickers. Attests to the emergence of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s when Felix Gallardo (Diego Luna) takes command, unifying the traffickers to build an empire.
When DEA agent Kiki Camarena (Michael Pena) moves his wife and his young son from California to Guadalajara to take on a new position, he quickly realizes that his task will be more challenging than he could ever have imagined. While Kiki gathers intelligence from Felix and becomes more entangled in his mission, a tragic chain of events unfolds affecting the drug trade and the war against him in the years to come.
