Lady Gaga as Harleen Quinzel in ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ shooting photographs leaked online

The Joker sequel – “Joker: Folie à Deux” – comes true despite director Todd Phillips’ previous assertions that Joker was not a normal superhero film and that it had a definite ending for the character Arthur Dent, commonly known as the Clown Prince of Crime. Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel, is set to be released on October 4, 2024.

It’s not surprising given the film’s tremendous box office success, which earned $1.074 billion as an R-rated film. What is shocking is the film’s lavish title, Joker: Folie à Deux, as well as Phillips’ ambition to make it into a musical.

Lady Gaga will play Dr. Harleen Quinzel or Harley Quinn with the returning Joaquin Phoenix. Phillips revealed a glimpse of Gaga in the role in a Valentine’s Day letter in February.

Many fans have no idea what to expect from the upcoming Joker sequel. The most recent set photographs, which show Arthur Dent fleeing from other Jokers, don’t reveal anything about filmmaker Todd Phillips’ goals either.

When we get a look of Lady Gaga as Quinzel in the latest photographs, the bundled-up character wearing a grey cap does not reveal much about the film’s direction.

Although thievery has never been a major part of Harley’s past, the recently revealed scene appears to be consistent with her acknowledged origin.

Harley Quinn was first seen in Batman: The Animated Series as Harleen Quinzel, a psychologist who worked at Arkham Asylum and was assigned to cure the Joker.

Quinzel eventually cracked and became Harley Quinn as she dug into the Joker’s disordered brain. In recent years, producers have attempted to separate Harley from her “abused girlfriend” storyline by having her have a romantic relationship with Poison Ivy and breaking things off with the Joker totally, as shown in The Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey.

According to the set photographs, Joker: Folie à Deux will return to Harley’s roots. Yet, given Lady Gaga‘s enormous screen presence, it’s unlikely that she’ll play the same traumatized role as in previous Harley portrayals.
