Bill Paterson made his acting debut in 1967. He starts with Bertolt Brecht’s The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui at the Glasgow Citizens Theatre. Later on, he joined the Citizens’ Theatre for Youth. However, he left the theatre for The Great Northern Welly Boot Show at the Edinburgh Festival. Bill Paterson spent most of his time in John McGrath’s theatre. And then slowly he began his television career. His first appearance includes the 1978 BAFTA award-winning drama Licking Hitler. He also played King James in the UK television serial Will Shakespeare the same year.
