The 2023 Hollywood Critics Association’s HCA Film Awards took place on Friday night (February 24) at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Hosted by Tig Notaro, the awards show recognized outstanding performances and achievements in the film industry over the past year. Among the night’s big winners were Brendan Fraser and Angela Bassett.
Brendan Fraser was awarded Best Actor for his exceptional performance in an acclaimed film, while Angela Bassett took home the Best Supporting Actress award. Both actors gave unforgettable performances in their respective roles, captivating audiences and critics alike.
In addition to Fraser and Bassett, Ke Huy Quan won Best Supporting Actor for his outstanding contribution to the film “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” while Jenny Slate won Best Voice or Motion-Capture Performance for her role in “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On.”
The biggest winner of the night was “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” which took home several awards, including Best Picture, Best Cast Ensemble, Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh, and Best Director for Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.
Director Rian Johnson, the mind behind “Golden Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” was also recognized at the awards show with the Filmmaking Achievement Award.
Johnson’s work has been highly praised by critics and audiences alike, and his latest film is no exception. The star-studded event was attended by many big names in the industry, including Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline, Terry Crews, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Brittany Snow, Emily Hampshire, Lena Waithe, Teyana Taylor, Pom Klementieff, Harvey Guillen, and David Dastmalchian.
Kate Hudson wowed in a gorgeous dress by Prabal Gurung, while Madelyn Cline donned an Armani Prive dress with Bvlgari jewelry. Brittany Snow chose a stunning Staud dress for the occasion.
