There has been a blast in INS Ranvir in Mumbai, in which three Navy personnel have been martyred. There are also reports of injuries to several personnel in this accident. Giving information about this accident, an Indian Navy officer said that an unfortunate incident happened at Naval Dockyard Mumbai today. 3 Navy personnel lost their lives in an explosion in an internal compartment of INS Ranvir. However, the ship’s crew immediately brought the situation under control after the accident.

It is being told that the Navy has ordered an investigation into the blast. INS Ranvir was on a cross coast operational deployment from the Eastern Naval Command and was soon to return to the base port. A Board of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the accident. It is also reported that 11 personnel were injured in this accident, who are being treated at the local Navy Hospital. At the same time, the identity of the martyred Navy personnel is not yet known.

INS Ranvir was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 28 October 1986. It is the fourth of the five Pajput class destroyers, operated by a crew of 310 sailors. It is equipped with weapons and sensors. It has surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles. Apart from this, it also has anti-missile guns and anti-submarine rocket launchers.

Earlier on 23 October 2021, a fire incident was reported in INS Rannvijay of the Indian Navy. In that incident, four people were injured. The death toll is feared to rise further after the blast on INS Ranvir.
