WhatsApp corrects course and returns the old list of contacts

WhatsApp had changed the interface of its contact list in a beta, but the reactions changed everything.

It is no secret to anyone that WhatsApp is today the most popular instant messaging application on the planet. Maintaining that position has not been easy and this has led them to keep in constant movement, innovating with every possible update.

While many of the features and changes are “inspired” from its competitors like Telegram, occasionally the Meta team takes the initiative to introduce their own ideas. Being sometimes more successful than at other times.

The most recent example of that we have just experienced with a radical change that they decided to implement in the contact list interface with not so flattering results.

As reported in WABetaInfo WhatsApp recently received an update in its beta testing phase that introduced a new view for the list of contacts in the application with two guiding axes for viewing:

Frequent contacts.
Recent chats.
The idea, in theory, is that this would make it easier for users to find our favorite contacts. But the not exactly positive reaction of the first users in the beta was immediate.

So the team behind WhatsApp has just released a new update in record time with version 2.22.5.9 where the old interface of the contact list in the application has finally been restored.

Before all this, there was a brief period in which the complaints were heard through Twitter , reaching a certain level of virality.

Especially since screenshots of the contacts interface began to be shared, noting that everything looked more messy than practical.

Trying to order everything under the logic of the most frequent contacts made everything unnecessarily confusing, after all those people are at the top of the list of conversations.

And when there is a need to locate an individual in the address book it is more agile if everything is organized in alphabetical order.

Fortunately, the vast majority of WhatsApp users will never know about this function.
