TikTok: the changes that the platform has made for minors

TikTok has incorporated new changes to its platform with the aim of protecting all minors who are part of its community. In this opportunity, we will talk about the most outstanding modifications.

These changes began to take effect on March 7 and they seek, as explained by the platform, to “guarantee well-being” and also to reinforce their “security, trying to offer the community a space to create, connect and enjoy entertainment”.

TikTok had already announced in mid-February of this year about these changes to its rules of coexistence, which aims to offer a “safe and welcoming” environment for all users.

Changes in TikTok for minors

Among the main changes, it stands out that now the publications of children under 16 years of age are no longer recommended in the For you section. Another thing is that they will also not be able to access direct messages and they will not be able to publish live content either.

Those under 18 will not be able to send or receive gifts on TikTok. On the other hand, before and after cosmetic surgery videos will not show up in the For You section.

In addition, the platform could exclude recommendations for minors, challenges that involve danger or extreme sports performed by non-professionals.

Finally, TikTok will remove any content that shows abusive situations against minors or that puts their safety at risk.
