Do you want to transfer content between your phone and computer in an easy and practical way? Although there are countless methods to achieve this purpose, there is a free tool that makes it possible without the need to connect cables, download apps, or create accounts.
This is Snapdrop, an open source project that works similarly to Apple’s AirDrop, except that it is compatible with any device and operating system, including Windows, Mac, and Linux computers, as well as iOS and Android mobile devices.
How to transfer files between devices?
Before carrying out this procedure, you must take into account the following: both devices have to be connected to the same network and keep the mentioned platform open while the data transfer is taking place.
To get started, go to the Snapdrop website from the two computers you’ll be using. Each one of them will be assigned a random name, which will help you to easily identify them when you want to transfer the information.
Next, go to the sending device and click on the name of the receiving device, which will appear within its range. Doing so will automatically open the file browser so you can select the material to send.
Once you have uploaded the file, you will receive a notification on the second computer to accept the transfer. Finally, you just have to press the Save button to download and save the content.
As additional features, Snapdrop has an option to send messages with the press of a button (useful for quick coordination), put the interface in dark mode, and activate the notification bell to get alerts when receiving an item.
