TikTok now lets you post videos of up to 10 minutes, a boon for some content creators.
In mid-2021, Tiktok announced that its videos would see a jump in their maximum time. We went from reproductions of up to 1 minute, to currently three minutes for all users. Now the high magnification is significantly high, and those in charge of the application say that it will be beneficial for its community and its creators.
“We are always thinking of new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience. Last year we introduced longer videos, giving our community more time to create and be entertained on TikTok. Today we are very happy to start rolling out the ability to upload videos of up to 10 minutes, which we hope will unlock even more creative possibilities for our creators around the world,” said a TikTok spokesperson.
TikTok wants to resemble YouTube, or so it seems
Until now, it is definitely quite popular for Tiktok to see videos uploaded everywhere. The creators call their viewers so they can “support” a certain video to continue with a second part, for example.
However, with the new Tiktok update, these motivations will find a happy ending; and it is that It would be impossible for the themes of the aforementioned videos not to coincide with the 10-minute limit.
While one invites him to stay, the other invites you to scroll quickly and continuously for your main feed. By the way, it seems that TikTok is serious about being a competitor to YouTube; but this new feature 10 minutes will not be enough.
If TikTok is indeed planning to become a competitor to the video platform with a length format much longer than just 10 minutes, it will likely see a change in the way the app is presented to users.
At the same time, TikTok needs to consider ways to build greater content loyalty and prevent early churn from its consumers. YouTube, for its part, attempted to become a competitor to the platform using Shorts; although there are no comparable successes.
