The Amazon Echo Buds now integrate one of the most useful features for physical activity

More than a year ago, Amazon introduced its Echo Buds, headphones with Alexa, and noise reduction to compete with AirPods. Although the product has not managed to take off as expected, Amazon is still betting and announced a new feature for those who exercise.

The Amazon Echo Buds will track your workouts. The headphones will be able to record the duration of your exercise routine, how many calories you burned, and specific data such as your step count or how fast you walk or run.

Because Echo Buds are compatible with Alexa, you can start your workouts with voice commands like “Alexa, start my run.” The assistant can also offer information on how your routine is going so that you are aware of the pace you are taking. When you want to pause or end your workout, all you have to do is ask Alexa.

According to Amazon, this feature will be available in the next few days via an update. To take advantage of it, we must first create a training profile within the Alexa app in the “Training” section.

“Alexa, manage my workouts”

The Alexa app will also be the place where our routines will be managed. Within devices, it will be enough to select Echo Buds and then “Training” to have access to all the statistics. With this feature, Amazon’s wireless headphones will seek to be more useful and competitive, while storing more personal data to feed their algorithms.

The technology company officially announced the Echo Buds in September 2019. The headphones feature Alexa support and Bose noise reduction technology. One of the most interesting features is the ability to invoke Alexa by voice, as well as the presence of gestures to perform various functions.

To go deeper into training measurement, Amazon introduced its Halo bracelet a few months ago, a wearable capable of interpreting your emotions. According to the manufacturer, the Halo is capable of keeping track of your health without causing distractions. Unlike the Apple Watch or the Xiaomi Mi Band 5, the Amazon Halo doesn’t have a screen or notifications, but rather a small sensory capsule.

Amazon has pushed hard with the launch of devices, although again its Achilles heel is availability. While AirPods are available in dozens of countries, Jeff Bezos‘s company focuses its Echo Buds and the Halo bracelet on the US market.
