It’s official: paid WhatsApp is back

In the end it happened: after 8 years from the acquisition of WhatsApp for 19 billion dollars, Meta announces the return of the paid app

It had been in the air for quite a while, it had already been anticipated by the usual indiscretion of the always well-informed blog WABetaInfo, and now it is also official: WhatsApp for a fee, or rather “ WhatsApp Premium “, is a reality. The news was announced by Mark Zuckerberg himself, during Meta’s Conversations event.

But not only WhatsApp Premium is official: it is official all over the world, complete with posts on the various national WhatsApp blogs, including the WhatsApp Italy blog. This means that the paid version of the most famous and most used chat app in the world is about to arrive everywhere and even soon, there won’t be much to wait for. But, we specify it immediately, as also expected from the rumors WhatsApp Premium will be the paid version of WhatsApp Business, not the app for private users. And, we also specify this, companies will be able to continue using WhatsApp Business even without paying but giving up some advanced features.

WhatsApp Premium: what changes

At the moment, the news of WhatsApp Premium already announced two. One very important, the other a little less. The most important one concerns, as is already known, WhatsApp ” multi-device “: paying companies will have the ability to manage chats on up to 10 devices ” to better distribute the flow of messages “.

The second novelty, however, is the new customizable links ” click to chat ” on WhatsApp, which will help companies to attract more customers online. To this paid news, then, are added other news for all companies with a WhatsApp Business profile, even non-paying ones. In particular, the new cloud-based API (Application Programming Interface).

In practice, said in a nutshell, now companies can configure their WhatsApp Business profile in a simpler and faster way and be online in a few minutes because they allow businesses to upload their product catalog to Meta’s servers, which then will be sold via WhatsApp Business.

WhatsApp Premium: how to activate it and how much it costs

Alt, stop: WhatsApp Premium is official worldwide, but it is not yet possible to activate and use it. WhatsApp has announced it with great fanfare, it is true, but the details on the costs and subscription methods (monthly and/or annual, it is assumed) are not yet known. The new features explain WhatsApp, which ” are part of a new premium WhatsApp Business service, on which we will share more details in the future “.

Is WhatsApp Premium good news?

No, WhatsApp Premium is not good news for most users. Especially for those who were waiting for the possibility of using WhatsApp on multiple phones.

This function is, of course, the one that will attract more companies to WhatsApp Premium and, consequently, will not be released soon even for private users. For those who do not have a company, however, there is the possibility of connecting up to four devices, only one of which can be a telephone.
