iPhone: 5 hidden functions that you should know about your cell phone

With these tricks you will take advantage of more benefits that devices developed by Apple have.

iPhone devices are highly popular worldwide in the mobile phone industry, thanks to their convenient features and constant innovation.

However, there are users who do not take advantage of all the functions of their equipment, so some options can become “hidden” due to their low popularity.

That is why below you will know 5 tricks that are available on your iPhone, and that you probably did not know.

Hidden tricks on iPhone

Convert a photo to text

Since iOS 15, the company founded by Steve Jobs developed a function that allows people to convert some photos that have words into text.

Live Text recognizes information in photos and online images that you can use to make a call, send an email or get directions just by touching the highlighted text in a photo or online image. You can also use Live Text in the Camera app: just point the iPhone camera at a photo or image with text and tap the indicator icon. From there, you can quickly do what you want: make a call, translate text, and much more.

To turn on Live Text for all supported languages, go to Settings > General > Language & Region, and turn on Live Text.

Protect photos with passwords

The step by step to achieve more privacy on your device is as follows:

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Screen Time > Use Screen Time Passcode.
  2. Enter a password that will serve to unlock the application and press the “ All devices” option.
  3. Select the “Photos” app in the list of available apps and select “Add limit”.
  4. Once you do, go to “Edit apps” and define a time limit of 1 minute and then select “Add”.

And ready, from this moment you will have more security on your cell phone.

Cut, copy, and paste between iPhone and other devices

You can use the Universal Clipboard to cut or copy content (such as a block of text or an image) on iPhone and paste it to an iPad, another iOS device, or Mac, and vice versa.

Before starting:

  1. To cut or copy and paste between iPhone and another device, make sure of the following:
  2. You must be signed in with the same Apple ID on both devices.
  3. Devices must be connected to a Wi-Fi network.
  4. Your devices must be within range of the other device’s Bluetooth network (about 10 meters).
  5. On iPhone and another iOS or iPadOS device, the Handoff app is turned on in Settings > General > AirPlay & Handoff, and Bluetooth is turned on in Settings.
  6. On the Mac, the Handoff app is turned on in System Preferences > General, and Bluetooth is turned on in System Preferences > Bluetooth.
  7. Each device has the corresponding minimum software version installed: iOS 10, iPadOS 13, macOS 10.12 or later.

Copy, cut or paste

  • Copy: Pinch three fingers together.
  • Cut: Bring three fingers together twice.
  • Paste: Spread three fingers apart.

You can also tap and hold a selection, then tap Cut, Copy, or Paste.

Go further with Siri

You may not know it, but Apple’s voice assistant Siri can help you share information faster than usual.

You just have to say “Hey, Siri send this photo to (add the contact you have saved”, by saying that your cell phone will send a capture with everything that is on the screen at that time on your cell phone. You can even accompany it with a link in the event that it is a web page.

Hidden button

Since iOS 14, the back tap function has been known, which consists of taking advantage of the mobile sensors to detect touches with the finger on the back of the phone. So you can give two or three taps on the back of your cell phone and you will find functions such as locking the cell phone, taking a screenshot, or turning it off.
