It was an open rumor and, finally, it was confirmed, that Apple has officially presented its new operating system for mobile devices, iOS 16. This version has improvements in the customization possibilities, as well as in notifications and a renewed lock screen with a multilayer effect.

In addition, it also incorporates new functions such as LiveText, which allows you to select the text within images or identify certain elements in photographs, such as people, buildings or plants, and take them to another document or image.

Another novelty is Live Screen which allows access from the lock screen to notifications or live information such as the current temperature or the number of steps that have been taken.

But if there is one of the applications that has captured the most attention during the presentation, it is iMessage, Apple’s messaging application. Now users will be able to save a message that they have not finished writing or delete one that has just been sent and quickly wants to be recovered and that does not reach the recipient. In addition, it will also be possible to recover the message already sent to re-edit it and send it again.

The optimization of Siri, Apple Wallet, which will allow the user’s identity to be verified within the app or pay amounts in different installments with Apple Pay Later, as well as Apple Maps, with new graphics, 3D maps of buildings, have also been the most outstanding.

But a very special mention deserves the improvements introduced in the application for photos. iCloud Shares Photo Library now allows you to create shared libraries with other people.

Along with these possibilities, Apple has also announced the new version of the operating system for the iPad, iPadOS 16, with new multitasking options and the ability to resize application windows.

And continuing with the operating systems, Apple Watch has a new version, WatchOS 9, with improvements in customization and functions for training and health control.

MacOS Ventura, for Macs, and RealityOS, a new operating system designed for virtual and augmented reality devices, have completed these announcements. Although it was expected that together with this latest operating system a new device would be announced for this field, such as Apple Glasses, for now, we will have to wait.

Apple announces news also in hardware

Apple’s announcements have not only focused on the world of software. The company has taken advantage of the celebration of this great event to show its new hardware releases.

The new MacBook Air with a new aluminum design and a thickness of 11.3 inches, maintains the fingerprint reader, Liquid Retina display, an improved 13-megapixel webcam, and two USB-C ports. With an autonomy of up to 18 hours of video playback and a 40% power over the previous version, it will be available in June for 1,519 euros.

And, to close the hardware section, Apple has also shown the new MacBook Pro, with an M2 chip, the autonomy of 20 hours, and 39% faster and more powerful than the previous one. Its price will start at 1,299 euros.

In addition, it is the first team that will integrate the company’s new processor, the M2. Created with 5-nanometer technology, they have 20,000 million transistors on a chip and eight cores.

According to Apple, the M2 will achieve 87% greater energy efficiency, increase computing power by up to 18%, and graphics performance by 25% compared to the M1.
