It’s official. Apple has just sent invitations for its first event of this 2022, which will take place on March 8 at 10 am PT (12:00 PM Mexico time). The invitation, which usually offers subtle hints about what to expect, features the words “Peek performance” (a speed date).
At this event, the firm led by Tim Cook is expected to present the iPhone SE and the next-generation iPad Air, along with the new Macs. According to a report from the specialized site Bloomberg, an M2 chip could also make an appearance.
Considering that the latest iPhone SE was released in 2020, it seems that an updated model is long overdue. Apple’s sub-$400 compact phone is one of the last to still have a home button on the front below the screen.
It also has a single rear camera and overall feels like a throwback to phones from five years ago. This year’s model may bring support for Face ID and 5G, with a design that could be similar to the 2018 iPhone XR.
Apple released the updated MacBook Pro in October, powered by its then-new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. But it looks like the company is now ready to bring us M2 devices, with submissions of several Macs appearing in the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) database.
Other novelties that are expected to arrive at this event are: new emojis and a new function called “Universal Control”, which would allow users to use the same keyboard and mouse on multiple iPads and Macs.
