Virat Kohli jumped out of his seat after MS Dhoni’s last over heroics for CSK

Everyone stands in amazement when MS Dhoni bats! Although he may not be the same match-winner as before, MS Dhoni returned on Sunday night to lead Chennai Super Kings to their ninth Indian Premier League final.

Dhoni bowled Delhi Capitals pacer Tom Curran for three boundaries in the final over, delighting CSK fans all around the world. Once more, the game’s “greatest finisher” has arrived. Even India’s captain, Virat Kohli, was out of breath!

CSK needed 24 runs off 11 balls as Dhoni stepped in to bat. CSK needed a player with a calm head and the ability to hammer the ball after a well-set Ruturaj Gaikwad had just got out for a superb 70. The first ball he faced was a dot, but Dhoni quickly set to work. He smacked Avesh Khan for a six over deep mid-wicket off the back foot.

That was the start of something extraordinary. The removal of Moeen Ali in the first ball of the final over put MS Dhoni back in the game. CSK required 13 runs in five balls at that point. With back-to-back fours off Curran, the former India captain turned the tables and reduced the equation to five runs from three balls.

The pressure was evident on Curran, who produced a wide in the next over before Dhoni snatched a short ball behind point for a boundary to seal the victory for CSK. After witnessing such a conclusion, it goes without saying that anyone would jump out of their seat. Virat Kohli, the captain of India and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, was one of them.

Kohli, whose Royal Challengers Bangalore will face Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2021 Eliminator on Monday, quickly tweeted his delight, proclaiming MS Dhoni to be the return king. “Anddddd The best finisher in the history of the game. While CSK has secured their tenth IPL final berth, the Delhi Capitals will play the winner of the KKR vs RCB game on October 13 for a chance to play in the final.
