SPAIN AND PORTUGAL PRESENT THE JOINT CANDIDACY TO HOST THE 2030 WORLD CUP

Spain and Portugal presented their candidacy to try to host the next World Cup in 2030. A great challenge that, as explained in the document signed by the minister Miquel Iceta, and to which Cadena SER has accessed, was born in the ” deep and historic relations between the two countries.

” Currently, the candidacy is in the phase of defining the venues and sub-venues of the World Cup.

Among the general aspects, the application must necessarily present a minimum number of venues and another minimum number of sub-venues or, what is the same, training centers.
The Spanish and Portuguese Federations have agreed that there will be a total of 14 venues, of which 11 will be in Spain and 3 in Portugal. On the other hand, it is necessary to present a minimum of 72 sub-sites, among which 54 would be located in Spanish territory.

ARGENTINA, CHILE, PARAGUAY, AND URUGUAY, THE RIVALS

Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay made official this Thursday their project to host the 2030 World Cup, on the centenary of the first World Cup final phase played in South America:

“ Today we have made the political and sporting decision to relaunch the possibility that the 2030 World Cup will be held in South America, and in these four countries, ”the vice president of Paraguay, Hugo Velázquez, confirmed at a press conference.

Sports ministers and representatives of the four embassies met this Thursday in Asunción and raised the intention before FIFA. Velázquez clarified that the South American candidates do not have the economic resources to compete ” with the great world powers “, and that they plan a World Cup in an austere way:
