Manchester United Loses to Roma, but Advances to the Europa League Final

Thanks to their resounding 6-2 victory in the first leg, the English side left the Italians on the road despite losing the return leg 3-2, Cavani scores 2 more goals.

In an insane game full of goal chances, Manchester United lost 3-2 to Roma on Thursday at the Olympic Stadium in Rome and advanced to the Europa League final! The classification comes with 8 to 5 in the aggregate since, on the way, the Red Devils won by 6 to 2.

In the grand final, which will take place on May 26, at the Miejski Stadium in Gdansk (Poland), the “Red Devils” face Villarreal, who also eliminated Arsenal on Thursday in London. The FOX Sports and FOX Play transmit the match.

United will seek their 2nd title in the 2nd biggest competition of UEFA, since they were also champions in 2016/17, over Ajax.

Roma started much better on the pitch, creating several chances to open the scoring, but always stopping in a great performance by goalkeeper De Gea. On the counterattack, in turn, the Red Devils were fatal.

At 38, Cavani received a ball, took off, and kicked with great strength and precision to stuff the nets at the exit of Mirante.

The 2nd time, in turn, was to let everyone’s hair stand on end.

At 11 came the Romanist tie: after crossing from the left, Pedro tried to submit but ended up giving a pass to Dzeko to head in the small area. Three minutes later, the Italians pushed United out and stole the ball at the edge of the area. Cristante amended a bomb and made it 2 to 1.

Roma got excited and went up like a horde of barbarians, creating two absurd opportunities to expand. De Gea, however, miraculously saved twice. But whoever has Cavani has a security man in the attack, and he has proved his worth to Manchester once again.

At 23, the Uruguayan received a great cross from Bruno Fernandes and tested hard to tie again.

In the final minutes, coach Paulo Fonseca went to all or nothing in Rome, making several changes and putting up the 19-year-old Zalewski to make his professional debut. And the young Pole did not disappoint: at 38, he received a cross from Santon and amended a high-kick to give the home team the victory.

It’ll be in Manchester United’s hand and a decent farewell to the giallorossi in the competition!!
