Video. They rescue a dog trying to survive in the middle of the sea

The dog was lost at sea while traveling with her family off the Atlantic coast

United States Coast Guard boat patrolling the area of Pamlico Sound, North Carolina, off the Atlantic Ocean, found a dog fighting for her life.

According to the reports made by the authorities, the dog was swimming with all her might to reach the mainland after she got lost in the middle of the sea.

Through social networks, the United States Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet said that its personnel was patrolling boat CG24508 when they received a call for help to find a pup that had been lost at sea when its owners strolled along the shores of Pamlico Sound.

The family of the dog named Myla was sailing through the cove when the little pup fell overboard and they lost track of her once she hit the water.

“Shortly thereafter, lookouts detected movement in the calm waters and upon closer inspection saw the dog swimming towards the ship. The crew made their way to the distraught dog and brought Myla aboard.”

In the statement, posted on the Coast Guard’s Pamlico Sound Facebook account, Myla was said to have undergone a quick inspection to rule out any cuts or injuries she may have sustained during her fall or while swimming.  The quick check showed that the pet was scared and with alert eyes open, even when it was rescued it showed an attitude of panic that passed when they were reaching the seashore.

After that, the agents took Myla to the mainland to deliver him to his relatives who had been worried for hours before.  Authorities noted that the rescue was “almost miraculous” as it is normally difficult to find a dog or any animal the size of Myla in a body of water more than 100 miles long and 25 miles wide.

The place where it was lost and later found is considered “the largest bay sanctuary in the world,” notes The Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Partnership.  A video and several photos that are going viral were shared on Facebook showing the rescue of Myla, as well as the inspection of her body and the protection that the agents gave her until she was reunited with her owners.

“We want to congratulate Myla for being a good girl and an amazing swimmer!” authorities said.

Facebook users commented on the Coast Guard post with messages of amazement and joy at the “miraculous rescue,” praising the little dog for her resilience and for continuing to fight for her life.  They also praised the work of the agents who made an effort to find her despite the odds. “Incredible rescue of an outstanding fur baby,” said one user.
