Although her name has not been released publicly, the New Jersey police reported that thanks to social networks they had identified the young woman found dead on the edge of a park facing the sea.
Police had previously released a facial reconstruction sketch of the dead woman, who was found in Carteret, a town in Middlesex County, asking the public for clues to help identify her.
“As a result of social media, the victim has been identified. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share the post,” the New Jersey State Police tweeted yesterday afternoon.
The body of a woman in her 20s , believed to be of Middle Eastern descent, was discovered on Feb. 2 along the shore of Carteret Waterfront Park, police said Thursday. It was further reported that she drowned and there were no signs of trauma or criminality, according to the New York Post.
The 5-foot-6, 125-pound woman was wearing black Adidas pants, a dark gray hoodie, a black jacket and Adidas sneakers when her body was found, state police said.
