The conviction for harassment of Erika’s murderer

The ruling, to which EL MUNDO has had access, details the intense monitoring to which a woman was subjected. The Prosecutor’s Office attributes sexual assault to him in attempted degree

The harassment to which Igor Postolache subjected a young woman from Trubia, a town near Oviedo, forced her to change her routines and plunged her into fear. This is stated in the sentence that condemned the alleged murderer of 14-year-old Érika for harassment in January 2020, which EL MUNDO has advanced.

In the harassment of the young woman and the outlines of Érika’s crime, commonplaces can be seen that show Igor’s obsessive traits and the monitoring to which he subjected both of them. He was waiting for the girl, his neighbor, on the landing of her portal when she arrived from the institute to stab her to death. She knew her movements because every day she had the same routine.

The sentence confirms his recidivist personality. In August 2019, a young woman was traveling by bus from Trubia to Oviedo. Igor approached him. “He began to speak (to the victim) in an unclear manner, grabbing the complainant’s hand and pulling her, the complainant managing to get away from it,” the ruling states.

A month later, Igor approached her again at the bus stop, this time in Oviedo. “As soon as he saw her, he addressed her, asked for her phone number (…) with which the complainant took refuge in a group of boys who inspired confidence in her.”

The young woman, the ruling continues, “was forced to change the time and bus route so as not to coincide with the defendant.”

For its part, the Oviedo Prosecutor’s Office has reported that it attributes Igor a crime of murder and another of attempted sexual assault and requests his admission to prison, considering that there is a risk of criminal repetition, escape, and destruction of evidence.

In addition, there were four other complaints that led to the trial. In that case, the sentence was an acquittal, as published by EL MUNDO, but as in the previous one, the profile of Érika’s alleged murderer is glimpsed. “My reason is disturbed when I see you,” he said to one of them, as stated in the ruling. “I am getting nervous looking at you, I would like to put a plastic bag on your head,” he continued before she escaped, the writing indicates.

This harassment occurred one night in August on a central street in Oviedo. It was the last of the four complaints that triggered the trial. Ten days earlier, on the same road, Igor had rebuked another young woman whose face he caressed while saying: “You’re fantastic (…) Have men disappointed you throughout your life?” The sentence also rescues another episode in which Igor approached a woman while she launched at him: “You are very pretty, I like you a lot, do you want to come with me?” Igor was acquitted.
