The first sod for investment in bioeconomy in Örnsköldsvik

During the presentation of the investment in the new pilot hall and the investment in bioeconomy in Ornskoldsvik, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson, made the first step toward achieving this goal.

The Bioeconomy Arena is a national gathering of forces for the industrialization and commercialization of the bioeconomy’s breakthrough technologies, goods, and services. The pilot hall, which is planned to be finished by the end of 2023, is a component of the Bioeconomy Arena.

Continuing to improve Swedish innovation and competitiveness is a priority for rising, which plays an essential role in the process. Because the bioeconomy is such an important component of the green transition, the Swedish government has allocated additional funding to rising to modernize and expand the country’s existing biorefinery test beds to speed up the process of bringing innovative products, processes, and services to market.

According to Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson, the Minister of Trade and Industry, it is extra pleasant to be able to take part today and take the first step for the investment in bioeconomy here in Ornskoldsvik. This is because it is particularly rewarding to be able to take part today.

RISE is an infrastructure for the creation, scaling up, and commercialization of novel bio-based goods and solutions. This infrastructure is comprised of the new pilot hall in Ornskoldsvik as well as our test beds located around Sweden. We create a more adaptable environment for innovation by working closely with many sectors of industry. According to Pia Sandvik, CEO of rising, here is where scientific superiority, cutting-edge technology, and innovative business people come together to accelerate the transition toward a bioeconomy and a resilient society.

RISE was awarded an additional 350 million Swedish Krona (SEK) by the Swedish government as part of the fall budget for the year 2020. This money will be used to construct and update test beds for biorefineries located around the country. The Ornskoldsvik test beds are an integral part of the Bioeconomy Arena, which serves as the enterprise’s nerve center.

In this space, innovators, entrepreneurs, and marketers, as well as researchers, may collaborate on novel bio-based goods and solutions to bring them to market. When it comes to technologies, processes, and products that are still in the early stages of development, Sweden has a strong position. The work that is being done by rising and Bioeconomy Arena in the field of bioeconomy will help to close the gap that exists between the early stages of development and large-scale manufacturing.
