Against a backdrop of record abstention at 52.49%, the Nupes and the presidential majority (Together!) are neck and neck in the first round of the legislative elections with respectively 25.66% and 25.75% of the votes. While the National Rally is positioned as the 3rd political force with 18.68% of the vote.
The first projections of the 577 seats give an advantage to the outgoing majority united under the label Ensemble!, with a range of 260 to 300 seats, ahead of the left (LFI, PCF, PS, and EELV) united under the Nupes banner (170 to 210).
The candidates of the National Rally (18.68%) failed to capitalize on the momentum of Marine Le Pen in the presidential election, who had garnered more than 40% of the votes in the second round. Confined to eight elected in 2017, the contingent of RN deputies should however be much larger this time, and still count in its ranks Ms. Le Pen, who is well ahead in her constituency of Pas-de-Calais (53.96%).
Conversely, in the wake of the heavy fall of its presidential candidate Valérie Pécresse, LR (10.42%) should lose its place as the leading opposition group in the National Assembly. On the side of Reconquête!, the candidate Eric Zemmour (23.19%) fails to reach the second round after his parachute in the 4th district of Var. The party is placed as the fifth political force with 4.24% of the votes cast.
