Congress leader and Punjabi singer Sidhu Musewala was shot dead in Mansa district today. Three others were injured in the firing. The attack took place when Musewala and two of his friends were on their way to their village Mansa in Punjab. Bullets were fired on Musewala’s SUV. He was seen bleeding in the car. He was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Three people injured in the firing have been admitted to Mansa Hospital.
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu was popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala as a Punjabi singer. The incident happened just a day after the Punjab government withdrew the security of 424 people, including Moosewala.
Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Musewala were shot dead. Singer Sidhu Musewala was accused of conspiracy to kill Akali leader Vikku Middukheda. Moosewala was supposed to do his show in Gurgaon next week. Musewala had joined the Congress in November last year. Musewala had contested the assembly elections from Mansa on a Congress ticket. He was defeated by Dr. Vijay Singla of the Aam Aadmi Party. Singla Mann was a minister in the government who was recently removed on charges of corruption.
Congress leader Charan Singh Sapra told NDTV that “the state government and the chief minister should clarify on what basis Moosewala’s security was removed. The government will have to answer.”
SSP of Mansa in Punjab, Gaurav Tora told news agency ANI that “Preliminary investigation shows that it is mutual enmity. Sidhu Musewala did not take his bulletproof car and gunman today. FIR is being registered. We will take immediate action against the gangster and the persons involved.
He said that two cars stopped Sidhu Musewala’s car and that was followed by heavy firing. Sidhu Musewala was hit by several bullets. The people present with him were also shot. He has been referred to Patiala for treatment.
The Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab has withdrawn the security of 424 VIPs yesterday i.e. on Saturday itself. Those whose security was withdrawn include many retired officers and former MLAs. Earlier in April also, the Punjab government had ordered the withdrawal of security of 184 people, including former ministers and leaders.
The Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab on Saturday withdrew the security of 424 VIPs. It was said that before withdrawing the security, the new government of Punjab had held a review meeting on this issue in which it was discussed whether 424 people need security.
Earlier in April, the Punjab government had ordered the withdrawal of security of 184 people, including former ministers and former MLAs, other leaders. Significantly, the security of the family of former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Captain Amarinder Singh’s son Raninder Singh and the wife of Congress MLA Pratap Singh Bajwa was withdrawn last month.
