The porn actor Ron Jeremy was accused of sexually abusing 21 women, including two minors, the Los Angeles prosecutor’s office reported Wednesday.
Jeremy faces more than 30 allegations of sexual assault committed between 1996 and 2019, including 12 counts of rape, seven of forced oral copulation, six of sexual assault by restraint, four of sexual penetration by a foreign object, two of penetration of an unconscious person, and a lewd conduct charge with a teenage girl.
The 68-year-old actor rose to fame in the adult entertainment industry with more than 1,700 films since the 1970s.
The complainants were between 15 and 51 years of age at the time of the attacks.
This Wednesday the prosecution reported that the actor pleaded not guilty to the accusations. If convicted, the defendant could spend the rest of his life in prison.
Jeremy, whose real name is Ronald Jeremy Hyatt, appeared in famous adult films such as “Deep Throat II” and “John Wayne Bobbitt Uncut”.
With his characteristic mustache, he was one of the most recognized stars in the porn industry, although in recent years he had been banned amid allegations of abuse against him.
In June 2020, he was charged with raping three women and abusing four. His arrest and appearance in court at the time sparked a flood of new complaints.
“I am innocent of all charges. I can’t wait to prove my innocence in court!” Jeremy tweeted immediately after the accusations.
Also in June 2020, his attorney, Stuart Goldfarb, denied all allegations and insisted that his client “was not a rapist.” “Ron, over the years, because of who he is, has practically been the lover of more than 4,000 women. And claiming that he is a rapist is from beyond… I mean, women throw themselves at him”.
Jeremy is the latest high-profile figure in the entertainment industry to be investigated for sexual abuse in Los Angeles since the #MeToo movement began in 2017.
