Mumbai News Now: On Saturday, Mumbai reported 6,347 new Covid-19 cases, one death, and 451 recoveries. On Friday, the city had registered 5,631 illnesses. There are now 22,334 active cases in the city.
Meanwhile, more than ten ministers and at least 20 MLAs in Maharashtra have tested positive for coronavirus, according to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who said that if new COVID-19 cases continue to grow in the state, additional restrictions may be imposed.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the novel variation Omicron has been discovered in 55% of the sequenced Covid-19 positive samples in Mumbai. This validates the allegations of Omicron community transmission, ushering in the third wave in Maharashtra.
In light of the current Covid-19 scenario, Mumbai Police issued an order under section 144 of the CrPC preventing people from accessing beaches, open grounds, sea faces, promenades, gardens, parks, or similar public locations between 5 p.m. and 5 a.m. daily from now till January 15.
