What is the cause of the bad smell of the armpits?

Sweat in the armpits is an odorless liquid, produced by the sweat glands called  eccrine and apocrine .

The eccrine glands are the most common, 99% of these glands are composed of water and 1% of mineral salts such as sodium chloride and urea. Its main function of this gland is to control the  temperature of the body.

The apocrine glands are specifically in the armpits, groin, around the nipples and anus. These glands appear between 8 and 14 years of age and produce a kind of fatty sweat, which has no function of controlling  body temperature , therefore generates bad odor.
