500,000 euros for outdoor pools in Saxony-Anhalt

Municipalities and municipal associations in Saxony-Anhalt can receive funding for the renovation and modernization of municipal outdoor pools. A total of 500,000 euros is available for this. The funds come from a newly launched special program to promote swimming pools in the state.

Municipalities, municipal associations, and municipal companies are supported if the municipality holds a stake of more than 50 percent. The amount of the subsidy is up to 80 percent of the expenses – but a maximum of 50,000 euros per municipal outdoor pool.

Municipal and Sports Minister Dr. Tamara Zieschang: “The summer temperatures show that it is refreshing that the outdoor pools in many towns and communities in Saxony-Anhalt invite you to swim and bathe. With the new special program, the state is now making a contribution to ensuring that the municipal outdoor pools can be upgraded. In this way, we relieve some municipalities of the repairs and modernizations that are due in autumn, so that the coming outdoor pool season is also secured.”

Expenditure that may be funded includes:

• Renovation of outdoor pools, in particular the swimming pools, circulation areas, sanitary facilities, changing areas, water treatment systems, filter systems, diving platforms, simple slides, jetty systems, starting blocks,
• Modernization of outdoor pools, in particular through energy-saving measures and environmentally friendly technologies,
• Extension of the usability of existing outdoor pools, especially for disabled and rehabilitation sports.

In particular, kiosks, playgrounds, sports fields, seating and lying areas, wellness areas, and large slides are not eligible.

Applications for funding can be submitted to the Saxony-Anhalt State Administration Office until July 22, 2022. It should be noted that the funded projects must be completed by December 31, 2022, at the latest.
