The usual profile of the patient who undergoes blepharoplasty is that of a patient over 35 years of age, usually, a woman (although more and more men are encouraging this treatment) who complain of the effects that the passage of time causes on their eyelids: the appearance of bags on the lower eyelids and a “cap” of excess skin on the upper eyelids.

Under what circumstances is it not advisable to undergo this operation?

In addition to the usual ones in any type of surgical intervention of an aesthetic nature (absence of need, unrealistic expectations, local infection, pregnancy, and important systemic diseases, among others alterations in coagulation or the immune system), special care should be taken in patients in whom dry eyes are suspected since dry eye syndrome can be a very important contraindication to performing a blepharoplasty.
