This technique requires local anesthesia and is performed with a cylindrical scalpel less than 1 mm in diameter.

The FUE technique is indicated for both men and women after suffering limited hair loss, and scarring alopecia due to burning or radiation therapy.

FUSS technique

The process is performed thoroughly under local anesthesia by directly treating the skin strip to obtain the follicles.

Types of alopecia

Androgenic alopecia

Androgenic alopecia or also called common baldness is one of the most common types of alopecia. This type of alopecia causes progressive miniaturization of the follicles following a defined pattern. It is mainly due to a genetic factor, although it can be hormonal and can affect both men and women. In general, this type of alopecia is more common in men. There are different degrees of androgenic alopecia:

• 1st Grade: In this grade, the hair aspect shows a barely visible receding in the front of the head.
• 2nd Grade: The hair loss begins to extend in the area of the entrances
• 3rd Grade: The hair begins to visibly detach in the area of the entries, increasing its depth.
• 4th Grade: In this grade, hair loss in the area of the entrances and crown suffer a greater loss, being visibly noticeable.
• 5th Grade: The hair on the front of the head begins to disappear along with that on the crown and recesses, separated by a percentage of scant hair.
• 6th Degree: It is considered a degree of severe alopecia, where the upper part of the head practically loses its hair.
• 7th Grade: The only hair that remains after hair loss is found in the area of the neck and sides of the head.

 

Alopecia areata

Alopecia areata consists of the loss of hair in limited portions of the head. These portions have a circular appearance although they can extend around the scalp. This type of alopecia can be temporary and the scalp can grow back after the alopecia disappears. It has its origin in the immune system, causing the system itself to attack the follicles.

Diffuse alopecia

Diffuse alopecia consists of progressive hair loss without producing complete baldness. The hair loses density, becoming fragile and weak.

Scarring alopecia

This type of alopecia is mainly due to hair loss due to a scar that has destroyed the follicular units, preventing their appearance. It can be due to physical causes, infections, tumors, or non-infectious inflammatory processes that affect the skin.
