The selective medical cryolipòlisi, a new non-invasive method for the elimination of fat, was discovered in 2008 by the renowned American dermatologists Dieter Manstein, and R. Rox Anderson, who belong to the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts Hospital and at Harvard Medical School.
For years, the use of cold to destroy some skin tissues, warts and other dermatological lesions has been well known. Apparently, all human cell types are susceptible to damage by conventional cryosurgery.
On the other hand, there were indications that adipose tissue is especially sensitive to being injured in the cold. This fact, among others, led to evaluating whether a selective damage to the subcutaneous fat could be done through the application of controlled cold on the surface of the skin, at a temperature well above conventional cryosurgery and using sufficient application time to extract heat from subcutaneous fat.
What does it consist of?
Cryolipòlisi consists of lowering the temperature of a body area that contains accumulated fat for about 30-60 minutes, in a controlled way, crystallizing the fat cells, producing their definitive destruction and later expulsion by the body’s own metabolism.
Who is this treatment for?
This treatment is ideal for those who are not obese, who have excess fat in some areas of the body. That is, men and women with localized fat.
What results are obtained?
Cryolipolisi reduces the accumulation of treated fat from 20% to 50%.
The destroyed fat is progressively eliminated by the body’s natural metabolism, throughout the 30 days after the treatment is carried out. The results are visible 15 days after the session.
The average reduction with our custom protocols is one size per session, and one to three sessions per area is recommended.
What is a cryolipolysis treatment like?
The treatment is painless and lasts between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the areas to be treated and the thickness of their fat.
First we do the body composition analysis, secondly, we calculate the density of the adipose tissue in the selected area with a caliper, then the area to be treated is marked and then the patient lies comfortably on the stretcher.
Next, the specialized professional places the heads on the areas to be treated, making a suction that will put the adipose tissue in contact with the cooling plates.
The skin will begin to cool down and you will feel a slight sensation of localized cold, which is never bothersome, and at this time of year it can even be pleasant.
This cooling process lasts from 30 to 60 min, during this time you can read, listen to music, relax, etc.
After the selected minutes, the plates are removed and a pleasant draining massage is performed.
This procedure allows the immediate incorporation of the patient to daily life.
Why does cryolipolysis have advantages over other treatments?
Controlled cooling exclusively destroys fat cells, which is a great advantage over other procedures.
Cryolipolysis does not damage any other tissue, it only affects fatty tissue.
Non-invasive, painless, immediate and definitive results
