How does breast cancer start ?

The breast cancer is a disease in which cells of the breast multiply uncontrollably. There are different types of breast cancer. The type of breast cancer depends on which cells in the breast become cancerous . Breast cancer can start in different parts of the breast.

Many conditions can cause breast lumps , including cancer. However, most breast lumps are caused by other medical conditions .

The two most common causes of breast lumps are fibrocystic disease and cysts. Fibrocystic disease causes breast changes that are not cancerous and can cause lumps, tenderness, and pain. Cysts are small fluid-filled sacs that can form in the breasts.

Symptoms of breast cancer

The warning signs of breast cancer can be different for each person. Some people do not have any signs or symptoms.

Some warning signs of breast cancer are:

A new lump in the breast or armpit (under the arm).
Increased thickness or swelling of part of the breast.
Irritation or sagging of the skin of the breast.
Redness or peeling in the nipple or breast area.
Sinking of the nipple or pain in that area.
Nipple discharge, other than milk, even blood.
Any change in the size or shape of the breast.
Pain in any part of the breast.
Keep in mind that these warning signs can occur with conditions other than cancer.

Treatment for breast cancer
People with breast cancer often receive more than one type of treatment .

Surgery: An operation in which doctors cut the cancer tissue.
Chemotherapy: Special drugs are used to shrink or kill cancer cells.
