Vince McMahon will temporarily step down as WWE CEO amid allegations of misconduct

Vince McMahon will step down from his position as WWE CEO. As announced this Friday by the company itself, the businessman and figure in the world of struggles “has voluntarily renounced his responsibilities as executive director and chairman of the board” in the framework of an internal investigation against him.

That investigation regarding McMahon is due to a report by The Wall Street Journal that days ago suggested that the announcer offered a 3 million dollar deal to a former employee to cover up his extramarital relationship.

In that sense, those responsible for WWE say that “they take all allegations of misconduct very seriously” and that they will conduct an independent investigation to determine what happened.

However, while McMahon’s departure from his position is temporary, the company will not be completely separated from that family and Stephanie McMahon, the daughter of Vince McMahon, will take over as interim CEO.

“I love this company and am committed to working with the Independent Directors to strengthen our culture and our Company; it is extremely important to me that we have a safe and collaborative workplace. I am committed to doing everything in my power to help the Special Committee complete its work, including mustering the cooperation of the entire company to help complete the investigation and implement its findings,” said Stephanie McMahon.

In addition, although he will be separated from his role as CEO, Vince McMahon will continue to be linked to WWE’s creative content during the investigation and will appear on this Friday’s SmackDown.
