Uncharted triumphs at the US box office

The film with Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, was shown this long weekend, which is a holiday in the United States to celebrate Presidents’ Day.

The adventure film Uncharted was the highest grossing this weekend in theaters in North America with a total of 51 million dollars. The movie with Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, which is an adaptation of a video game, was shown this long weekend, which is a holiday in the United States to celebrate Presidents’ Day.

Sony Pictures estimated its three-day earnings at $44.2 million, putting the film in first place. While not a record number, it did give the movie industry some relief as it’s their best opening weekend since Spider-Man: No Way Home. Another movie that debuted this weekend was Dog, and it did well too.

Due to the uncertainty caused by the pandemic and the poor reviews it received, the producers of Uncharted entered the weekend with only cautious optimism. Ruben Fleischer’s film, based on a PlayStation game, was shown in 4,275 theaters. This result is another extraordinary testament to how Sony Pictures anticipates a huge appetite for the theatrical experience, Josh Greenstein, president of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, said in a statement

Sony also released “Spider-Man: No Way Home” exclusively in theaters late last year. That movie has now grossed $771.7 million in North America and is the third highest-grossing movie domestically in all of history.

You still need to cover the budget
Uncharted still needs to cover its production budget, which was 120 million dollars, although there will surely be more income internationally. Its global total already exceeds 100 million dollars and, unlike Spider-Man, it will benefit from its premiere in China from March 14.
