Tony Awards. Ariana Debose Will Host The Most Important Night Of Theater
Tony Awards. Ariana DeBose will host the most important night of theater

The theater party in the United States has arrived and this Sunday the 75th annual Tony Awards will be held, in which the best of the billboard on Broadway in 2021-2022 be awarded, and this year Ariana will serve as host DeBose, from the stage at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Choosing DeBose as the host of the Tony Awards is a way to recognize this young actress, who in 2018 was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for her role as Donna Summer in the musical “Summer: The Donna Summer Musical”, but she had already traveled the stage with productions such as “Hamilton, Motown: The Musical”, in 2013, and “Pippin” to mention a few, and earlier this year she participated in the film adaptation of “ West Side Story” by Steven Spielberg, where she played the role of Anita, for which she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

The ceremony, which is expected to last three hours, will feature live performances by Bernadette Peters, Billy Porter, The New York City Gay Men’s Chorus, the original Broadway cast members of “Spring Awakening” and numbers from Nominated musicals: “A Strange Loop”, “Company, Girl From the North Country”, “MJ”, “Mr. Saturday Night”, “The Music Man”, “Paradise Square” and “SIX: The Musical”.

The night’s honorees will include Angela Lansbury, who will receive the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in Theater; Robert E. Wankel will receive the Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award and James C. Nicola will receive a Special Tony Award.

Tonight’s favorite montages are “A Strange Loop” with 11 nominations, which follows the story of Usher, a queer writer writing a musical about a black queer writer writing a musical; “MJ” with 10 nominations, this musical shows Michael Jackson as he prepares for the 1992 Dangerous world tour; “Paradise Square” with 10 nominations and addresses the conflict between Irish Americans and black Americans during the Civil War and Company with 9, it shows the marital problems of several couples, through the memories of one of your friends.

This ceremony, organized by The Broadway League and the American Theater Wing, will be broadcast in Mexico this Sunday at 7:00 p.m. on Film&Arts.
