Johnny Depps Lawsuit Against Amber Heard for Defamation Begins
It will be until next Tuesday, May 31, that the jury of the legal dispute between the actors Amber Heard and Johnny Depp meet again to give a verdict.
After six weeks of the defamation trial, held in Virginia, the United States, this Friday, May 27, the lawyers for both parties released their final arguments, and, after two hours of deliberation, it was decided that the jury would go to home to return next week.
The reason for the trial is because Depp, known for his work in films such as “Pirates of the Caribbean”, sued his ex-wife Amber Heard (“Aquaman”) for defamation after the actress wrote a text for “The Washington Post” in 2018 which he talks about the sexual violence he experienced and for which, by raising his voice, he suffered “the wrath of our culture.”Although the actor is not mentioned in the said letter, he argued that as a result of the publication it was difficult for him to find work, which is why he asks for 50 million dollars. In response, Heard countersued alleging a smear campaign and asking for double the money.
It was through her official Twitter profile that the executive producer of the Law & Crime Trial Network channel, Cathy Russon, reported this afternoon about the long break that the jury will take.
