This Thursday, January 13, the fifth installment of one of the most successful horror franchises in recent years, “ Scream ”, opens.
25 years after the release of his first film, “Ghostface” is back, but this time another killer will take the mask, bringing to light several secrets from the past, terrorizing the quiet town of Woodsboro.
In the film, we can see the Mexican Melissa Barrera playing Samanta, who returns to Woodsboro with the sole purpose of rescuing her little sister Tara (Jenna Ortega).
But Sam and Tara will not be alone, since they will also be joined by the protagonists of the previous sagas Courtney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell.
THE NEW DIRECTORS
It should be noted that it will be the first film in the now pentalogy that will not be directed by Wes Craven, who died in 2015, so directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will take his place.
Barrera revealed that the directors “(…) are much bloodier, they are much more gore”, pointing out that “That is the touch that they bring to this new installment of ‘Scream’, and as with each installment we go up a level, you have to keep giving more to make the fans happy. I think it was the natural direction we needed to go.”
Likewise, the protagonist of the film announced that “I felt a lot of pressure (…) for what my character represents in the film and for acting alongside Sidney Prescott and Gale Weathers.”
Undoubtedly, Melissa’s career in Hollywood is on the rise, since she has just participated in the movie “In The Heights”, as well as in the series “Vida”, giving us great performances.
