Review of The Last of Us | Episode 2: The Infected.

Finally, the wait is over. Join us each week as we analyze each installment of the eagerly anticipated The Last of Us adaptation starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.

Joel, Tess, and Ellie continue their trip and battle the dangerous Clickers in episode 2.

Warning: These reviews contain spoilers for each episode, so if you’d prefer to start fresh, we suggest coming back to this review after watching the most recent installment.

The second episode of The Last of Us opens in Indonesia and follows the outbreak of the virus that would eventually bring humanity to its knees.

The Last of Us’ frightening resemblance to COVID-19 makes it seem like the perfect moment to adapt it for television.

A scientist who specializes in fungi is introduced to us; he or she rapidly realizes that the first few people the cordyceps infected and altered are not to be taken lightly.

The police’s inability to identify the initial victim or the source of the infection makes the situation even more terrifying. actual chills

Returning to 2023, we then follow Tess, Joel, and Ellie as they make their way to the Massachusetts State House. You might already be itching for it if you’re impatient like me and want to see more infected.

We haven’t seen many of the infected, particularly up close. Where did all that money for HBO go?

Be at ease. Later on, there will be a ton of activity, but for now, it’s all baby steps. The Last of Us intentionally focuses more on people than zombies in order to demonstrate how we as a race are adjusting to the shitshow that is Earth.

We definitely get a lot more action involving the infected in the second episode, “Infected.” Our gang encounters the infected, including a Clicker, rather early in the episode.

They are the worst form of infected you deal with in the game, and simply hearing them makes players cringe. These devils are deadly but famously difficult to sneak by or defeat.

It’s a tense and exciting sequence as the gang hides from the infected. Although The Last of Us stays fairly true to its inspiration, some of the moments, which in a game would be stealth missions, suffer a little from the passiveness inherent in a television program.

Finally, Tess, Joel, and Ellie escape unharmed and carry on with their adventure.

When they get to the State House, we now see why Tess has suddenly become impatient. Tess loses it totally after realizing that the Fireflies have long since left.

She was apparently bitten earlier by one of the infected, and she now has just a few hours until she, too, transforms into a flesh-eating monster. Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, the show’s creators, have established that it is a terrible fate that should be avoided at all costs.

These folks choose to pass away than becoming one of these things.

Tess must accept that this is the end of the road for her even though she had some optimism that getting Ellie to the Fireflies in time may assist her.

Tess is too late, even if Ellie, who is immune to the cordyceps infection, possesses the secret to the cure. Joel is coerced by her to take Ellie on the next leg of their adventure, go see Bill and Frank for supplies, and then locate Tommy in Wyoming; presumably he is aware of the current location of the Fireflies.

She stays behind as the infected draw nearer, being devoured by them when a horde of them burst through the building’s doors. Once again seen up close, the tendrils are quite gloomy.

They twitch and wiggle, and the thought of them digging into you is terrible.

We are currently enjoying The Last of Us immensely since it is quickly becoming a highly tactile experience.

The modest changes Mazin and Druckmann start to make in Episode 2 are noticeable. We think episode 3 will offer the biggest changes overall because Tess is slain here by the infected rather than troops as she was in the first game. Although a lot can still change, The Last of Us is now a front-runner for the best TV of 2023.
