Kim Kardashian’s Marilyn Monroe moment at the Met Gala continues to make people talk. The 41-year-old SKIMS founder, who is the August 2022 Allure cover star, told the magazine that the three-week diet she did to get into the iconic dress in which Monroe performed ‘Happy Birthday, Mr. President’ to John F Kennedy, caused a “really painful” psoriasis flare-up.

The reality TV star usually eats a plant-based diet and ate real meat before the Met Gala, causing psoriasis to spread all over her body.

“I got psoriatic arthritis, so I couldn’t move my hands. I had to go to a rheumatologist who injected me with a steroid. I went crazy. I went back to giving up meat and it calmed down,” said the businesswoman.

Kim opened up about her preparation for the Met Gala in May, sharing that she went on a strict no-carb, no-sugar diet for three weeks so she could finally get into the dress for the big night.

“I tried it on and it didn’t fit and I was like, ‘Give me three weeks.’ I had to lose 18 pounds by today,” Kardashian revealed to Vogue correspondent La La Anthony on the red carpet.

She added: “It was a big challenge. It was like a movie role. I was determined to fit into it. I haven’t had carbs or sugar in about three weeks,” she admitted.

The ‘Kardashian’ star also spoke to Allure about some of the criticism she has received for undergoing such a strict regimen: “If I were starving and doing it in a very unhealthy way, I would say of course I would that’s not a good message. But I had a nutritionist, I had a trainer. I’ve never drunk more water in my life. I don’t see the criticism other people get when they lose weight to do a part, they’re considered geniuses of their craft.” continuous.

The socialite, who recently launched her skincare line, SKKN, also opened up about her thoughts on beauty and the ageing process, telling the magazine that despite being at peace with her looks, she “would still do anything thing to look and feel young.

“I really, really care about looking good. I probably care more than 90% of the people on this planet. It’s not easy when you’re a mom and you’re exhausted at the end of the day or you’re at school, and I’m all previous”.

She also told the magazine that she would even eat feces in order to reduce the impact of the years on her appearance, as she told The New York Times in early June.

“Come to think of it, I’d probably eat shit if someone told me, ‘If you eat this bowl of poop every day, you’ll look younger.'”
