MJ Rodríguez becomes the first trans woman to win a Golden Globe

MJ managed to win for best actress in a drama television series, thanks to her role as Blanca Rodriguez-Evangelista.

Yesterday the 79th edition of the Golden Globes was held at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles, behind closed doors, without celebrities, and without live transmission.

After several controversies over corruption by members of the “Hollywood Foreign Press Association” (HFPA) “, as well as a lack of diversity among its representatives,” NBC “decided that it would not broadcast the ceremony this year as punishment.

Faced with this situation, the “HFPA” decided to hold the awards ceremony with only its 87 members behind closed doors, sharing through their social networks and their website who had won.

MJ RODRÍGUEZ AND HIS HISTORIC VICTORY

Without a doubt, this edition of the Golden Globes was historic, not only because of the way it was carried out but also because actress MJ Rodríguez became the first trans woman to win one of the awards.

MJ managed to win for best actress in a drama television series, thanks to her role as Blanca Rodriguez-Evangelista in the “FX” series, “Pose”.

“Pose” places us in the New York of the 80s and 90s, but it does not portray the classic glamorous characters that countless series and films are not used to, but rather marginal characters who are frowned upon by the society of the epoch.

The series introduces us to African American, Latina, and LGBTQ + community dancers, determined to achieve their dreams, leaving everything on the dance floor.

This past May 2, “Pose” premiered its third and final season, with a total of 26 episodes, receiving very positive comments from critics and the public.

Within her social networks, the singer wrote “It is a door that opens for many more young talents. They will see that it is more than possible. You will see that a young Latina from Newark, New Jersey, had a dream: to change the minds of others WITH LOVE. Love wins. To my LGBTQAI babies, we are here. The doors are now open, we can reach for the stars! For the nominees, we are queens. I am so happy to share this space with you! Each and every one of you women is phenomenal”.
