Law Roach, Zendaya’s stylist, has announced his retirement: The politics, lies, and false narratives eventually got to me.

Law Roach, the creative force behind some of Hollywood’s best fashion, says he’s retiring. The celebrity stylist made the announcement via Instagram on Tuesday, surprising his more than 1 million followers.

“My Cup is empty….. thank you to everyone who’ve supported me and my career over the years,” Roach wrote. “Every person that trusted me with their image, I’m so grateful for you all.”

He added: “If this business was just about the clothes I would do it for the rest of my life but unfortunately it’s not! Politics, lies, and false narratives finally got to me! You win … I’m out.”

Representatives for Roach did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment on the stylist’s retirement. However, when Roach spoke to Insider in February about the impact styling has had on him, it was clear that he loves fashion.

“Styling is like a drug for me when I know I get it right,” he told Insider. “Whoever I’m dressing, I just love it when they have that extra little something — a little spark or a little wiggle in their walk.”

Fans, celebrities, and fellow stylists reacted quickly to Roach’s post, expressing their support and pleading with him to reconsider. Maren Morris, a country singer, left a broken heart emoji, and fashion designer Christian Siriano replied, “Absolutely not.”

“Law, I’m not going to let you!” Naomi Campbell elaborated. “We didn’t give up…we worked too hard.” The stylist had been warmly complimented for his recent red-carpet work in the days preceding up to Roach’s post.

At the SAG Awards, he dressed Zendaya in a stunning, rose-embellished gown, and for the American Black Film Festival, he dressed Kerry Washington in one of Whitney Houston’s gowns.

He also dressed Megan Thee Stallion, Hunter Schafer, and Eve Jobs for the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party on Sunday.
