Johnny Depp loses an expensive legal battle against his ex-partner Amber Heard

Johnny Depp is one of the most beloved actors in the world and has been for several decades when he surprised the world with his performance in Tim Burton’s classic “Scissorhands”. Unfortunately, the actor has been involved in a huge legal conflict with his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard.

The last years in the life of Johnny Depp have been extremely complicated, especially due to the conflict that broke out in his marriage, which had already been falling apart for years and had reached points of physical aggression. At first, Heard claimed that it was Depp who attacked her, but time and evidence began to show that things were the other way around.

Now, with the case going and in a full legal battle, Amber Heard would have won an appeal that she filed with the court, which could cost Depp a lot of time and money, in addition to complicating the entire case. At first, the lawsuit was made for an article published by Heard in The Washington Post and now the judge would have affirmed that it is protected by state law.

In Fairfax County court, Depp’s lawyers appealed that Heard cannot use a Virginia state law that protects public affairs in order to use the article he wrote as part of his defense in a case of private affairs. Given this, the actress’s lawyers did not sit idly by.

Heard defended her, for her part, she argued that the article at no time mentions Depp, so it would become a text that deals with domestic violence and the protection of women’s rights in a broader way and therefore both could be used in the defense of the actress.

The judge in the case ended up ruling in favour of Heard, giving protection to her article as being in the public interest and therefore citable for her own defense, but it should be noted that this protection under the laws of the state of Virginia only applies to the article. as such and its use, but it would not protect Heard from what she wrote.

The legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard continues

The case between the two actors seems to only sting and spread, so far the defenses as such of each one are still being prepared and some hearings have already been held in Fairfax County, Virginia.
