A few days before his death, on January 10, Marek Gaszyński was hospitalized in a serious condition. A friend, Grażyna Orlińska, informed about his situation. “Marek Gaszyński – a giant of Polish songwriting, the author of countless hits and many books, a charming storyteller, a master of wit and accurate punchline, a living encyclopedia of song needs our mental support. He is in the hospital, in a serious condition. Let’s surround him with good thoughts… Marek, Friend – it’s not true that there are no irreplaceable people. Come back … please, come back…” – she wrote on Facebook.
Marek Gaszyński was a longtime journalist of the Polish Radio, author of music broadcasts, publicist cooperating with TVP and the national press.
He also wrote the lyrics of many hits that conquered the hearts of Poles for several generations. In total, he has 150 song lyrics to his credit. He wrote for such artists and bands as Czesław Niemen , Bogusław Mec, Halina Frąckowiak, Tadeusz Woźniak, Czerwony Gitary and Breakout. It was he who wrote the lyrics to the songs “Dream about Warsaw”, “Nie zadaraj nose” and “Where did those parties go”.
