Jennifer Hudson and John Legend Perform “Bridge Over Troubled Water” for 100th Episode

Jennifer Hudson and John Legend‘s beautiful duet! On Thursday’s 100th edition of The Jennifer Hudson Show, the 44-year-old “All of Me” singer-songwriter gave Hudson, 41, roses before interviewing her and playing the piano as they duetted “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”

“I know you famously portrayed Aretha Franklin, and she sang this song well. Legend remarked, “I like to do this song too, and it’s on my new solo album, 2022’s Legend.” “We’ll play ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’.”

 

Respect celebrity “One of my favorites—yes!” Legend played the piano and exclaimed, “Sing, Jennifer!” after Hudson started singing. “When you’re weary / Feeling little / When tears are in your eyes / I’ll dry them all / I’m on your side / Oh, when circumstances are difficult / And friends just can’t be found,” sang the vocalists. “Like a bridge over troubled water/ I will lay me down.”

Legend gave Hudson a cake for her 100th talk show episode after the performance. During Legend’s presentation, they discussed their EGOT statuses as Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony winners. Legend was the 15th recipient and the first Black guy.

 

“The crazy part was I won it at the same time with my collaborators on Jesus Christ Superstar: Live,” he said. The great Andrew Lloyd Webber, who’s written a jillion successful musicals, and his partner Tim Rice.

who has worked with him on so many, were producers with me on Jesus Christ Superstar: Live, and we all completed our EGOT at the same time, ’cause they needed an Emmy as well…. It was really special.”

Hudson then asked Legend his favorite award. “Because I started as a musician, the Grammys always mean a lot,” he remarked. “Growing up, I watched the Grammys and wanted to win. Oscars weren’t my goal. “I didn’t want an Emmy,” Legend said. “I’ll accept them all, but Grammys were always my ambition as an artist.”

 

“I won with Common,” he said. We earned it for writing “Glory” for Selma, which was special. “That film was simply incredibly meaningful because it chronicled the life of Dr. King and the fight for voting rights,”

Legend said of the song, which won best song composed for visual media at the 2016 festival. “A lot of people were still marching in the streets, protesting for Black lives.”

“So, we were able to get up on that stage and commemorate the movement in a really beautiful way in front of hundreds of millions of people around the world,” he said. “Wow.”
