JAY-Z and Damon Dash finally come to an agreement on Roc-A-Fella

A year ago we began to publish the legal mess between Damon Dash and JAY-Z, his former partner. As you know, and if that’s not what we’re here for, Dash has been in financial trouble ever since he broke business relations with Mr. Shawn Carter, that’s why he first decided to sell part of the album ‘Reasonable Doubt’ (JAY’s debut album) on NFT and also his portion of Roc-A-Fella Records.

Both Beyoncé‘s husband and Kareem “Biggs” Burke (the label’s other founder) refused, at which point a series of lawsuits and counterclaims began that has lasted until a few hours ago. Fortunately, it seems that Dash and Carter (who have formed one of the most successful couples in the world of business and rap) have reached a financial agreement.

Lawyers for both parties have stipulated that Damon Dash can sell his third share of the iconic and storied record label, but that he “in no way” can sell anything related to ‘Reasonable Doubt’.

The settlement also drops all of Roc-A-Fella’s lawsuits against Damon Dash. Although JAY-Z’s first album belongs to the label, none of its owners can sell the album or any of its parts (songs, art, etc.) on their own.

Good news for everyone, but especially for Damon. The sale of a third part of the record company can stabilize its current ailing economy. Artists such as JAY-Z himself, Kanye West, NORE, Cam’Ron, Beanie Siegel, The Diplomats, Jadakiss, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Foxy Brown, Just Blaze, and MOP have released their albums under the New York label.
